Well let me tell you that 15 years ago I was a miserable, struggling student without a pot to p*ss in. Now however I own a succesful business and have more money than I could ever spend, a stunning wife, 4 massive houses, and a car for each day of the week and I'm as happy as a pig in sh*t.
What does everybody else think?

I think you are full of $hit. Money does not buy happiness. I once had plenty of money and life sucked. Now that I have less money, life is great. I have a great wife, we are outdoors every day and enjoying ourselves, without spending money. I do not need all those cars or houses. I have my bicycle. Gets me where I need to go.

First off, I am genuinely glad to hear that things are going well for you.

As for your question, money does buy 'happiness', but only to a very limited extent. Things can happen, that money cannot help with / solve. EG what would happen if you were diagnosed with an incurable illness? What happens if someone close to you died? Granted you could try and throw money at the problem, but it would not solve it, nor may it help with your state of mind in these situations.

My personal advice (from a total stranger, emphasis on the 'strange' LOL) is to use your money in such a way that it 'buys you security'.

Use the money on things that you and your wife will enjoy TOGETHER AS A COUPLE. Plan ahead for your future (boring I know, but its the way to go).

Also, please remember those who are not as fortunate as you. I am not talking about just writing out cheques. Can your business sponsor / give advice to other businesses overseas? Could you make a 'job' for a disabled person (physically or mentally) giving them financial Independence / self respect. Could you organise 'work days' doing something visible in the community or donate time / skills of your workforce for local charities?

Money buys you comfort and I don't know how you can't be happy when you're comfortable.

edit: Oh gosh! Henry Ford died in his comfortable bed with this doctors and servants beside him. Money has nothing to do with being unhealthy. You guys are all stuck up deep in a useless cliché. So you're saying if H. Ford didn't have money he would've been healthy and wouldn't die with an empty stomach!? Money has zero effect on health. It's not his money's fault that he died with an empty stomach. So irrelevant. You are trying to prove your point on a wrong base. And saying "money doesn't bring happiness" is such a cliché because you've heard that all your lives. Don't you guys have your own opinions instead of repeating a cliché? Like H. Ford's death is more pathetic than a homesless person's death, in cold, and with an empty stomach not because he was sick like Ford but because he didn't have money to buy food? I'll take any day to die with an empty stomach in my comfy bed, not in some dirty street and let my body be found days later because I'm just an other poor homeless.

I think that's a very Good question! And well done on the honesty, by the way!!!

Money buy's me happiness, but it's always short lived. But that's because I want more from life and I know money can't buy those things for me.

But I did receive a nice little fortune and that money did help a little bit, so I guess I'm grateful and happy for that.

So does travelling. both this stuff help to make human beings smarter, extra insightful, extra charitable. once you've funds, you may have sufficient money an outstanding practise and the prospect to shuttle and get to attraction to close/comprehend individuals. deliver forth the large greenbacks !

It will be a short lived happiness. No, money alone does not make you happy. Some of the richest men in the world are not truly happy in spite of their wealth. There will be circumstances in your life's journey , which is not under your control, that will shatter this dream world you now live, and all you wealth will not be able to do anything about it.

Good for you, 15 years ago I was a poor as a church mouse, last year paid my mortgage off, love my husband to bits, been to the Caribbean and off to Australia next Easter, happy as a hopping bunny, but done it by saving hard and will always save for what I want, money does buy you dreams but not necessarily happiness.

Well it does say in the Bible that a camel can get through the eye of a needle easier than a rich man can get into heaven. If you have Christ than you can be happy weather you are rich or poor. If you are a rich man I hope you see fit to help those that can't help themselves. There are a lot of people in this world that could use your help. I would start with St. Jude's children's hospital.

It's great having money, no one can deny that and if they do they either never had it or are lying BUT happiness? Not sure. Life can throw sh*t at you whether you are rich or poor. Suppose with or without money you can't be happy all the time!

You may have your business and all the money in world but dont put to many hours in. The wife could become board without your company. Enjoy your success together not seperatly. Otherwise it could end in tears
