Unreal, the ignorance of so many of our own citizens in regards to responding to questions like this using it as an opportunity simply to bash President Bush. The terrorists consider people like you as "user friendly".

The way I see it, Yahoo! Answers is a poor place to hold a debate.

Each person gets one chance to write a coherent response to a question. It reminds me of WW1 where two sides sit in their trenches and trade shots over no-mans land. All the while nothing changes. Neither the questioner, nor the respondent ever exchange more than their opening statements.

Why do people bash Bush? It's easy and it's popular. In a world where attention spans are now measured in seconds as opposed to minutes, true analysis has been replaced by the sound bite. I'll bet that less than half the readers have made it to this point in my answer. Bush is not a genius, and I don't think he considers himself one either. Is Rice a genius? I'd say so, maybe that is why Bush has her on his staff. If you lack for something, acquire it. He's smart enough to know that.

From your example I found a few things interesting:

He lacked any knowledge of modern weaponry. Military weapons are designed to not go off except under specific circumstances.
You can drop, burn and beat on military explosives with impunity. Nuclear weapons are designed to even higher standards to absorb higher rates of shock. "We don't know why they didn't go off." Some quick research would have told him.

Spain has a government that was elected in reaction to a terrorist bombing. The previous government sent troops to Iraq, the new government cut and run. Now he's not impressed with this new government. Could it also be due to the policy of appeasement to the Basque terrorist organization opperating internally? Al-Queida claims Spain as part of the Caliphate, will appeasement work with them as well?

With so much wrong with the question what is left? The assumption that a debate with Iran's president will enlighten the world is faulty. We already know what the major points will be. The hatred for Jews and western living and the desire to gain power on the world stage. Why provide the veune and legitimize it with the presence of America?

Can an individual who is unwilling, or unable, to do such basic research put together a coherent argument cognisant of the facts? Extrapolating further, how can they debate the promotion of peace or freedom without facts? Now feed that individual some sound-bites that they repeat ad-nauseum as a defence for the beleifs someone has foisted upon them.

The liberals and the international appeasers have been in a bad place for several years now, in different ways.

The liberals are in the unenviable spot of needing bad things to happen to America in order to take back power from the republicans. It doesn't take a genius to identify all the liberal obstructionism to the war on terror or homeland security. For 5 years the liberals have done nearly everything in their power to weaken the U.S. and then crow about how we're not safe. if the liberals think the American people are so stupid that they can't see this happening on an almost daily basis, they're going to get a big wakeup call from the Cloo Fone in November. Constantly betting against America and running on a platform of Our President is Bad is a loser.

The international appeasers keep bashing Bush and the U.S. for its imperialism despite the fact that the U.S. has proven time and time again that we want nothing more than for the people of sovereign nations to rule themselves. When has the U.S. enjoyed the spoils of war anyhere? We defeat the enemy and then rebuild there country and get out as soon as that country can stand on its own two feet after spending our own money to do it! The U.S. puts more money, aid and lives on the line to help people all over the world than any 10 other nations combined, yet the majority of our supposed allies seem to do nothing more than to promote the enemies of the U.S. who also appear to be sworn enemies of freedom in this world. I can understand Old Europe being jealous of the United States and its power, but not to the point that it wants harm to come to the U.S. Most of Old Europe seems to have forgotten that the U.S. is the only thing standing between it and the islamofascists who want to subjugate it. Britain, France, Spain and Belgium have all experienced how the islamofascists do business in recent years. Do they really think that appeasing the terrorists and religious fanatics will keep the problem at bay? if the U.S. halted the war on terror and discontinued influencing the middle east, do they really think the "religion of peace" will give up its war on their way of life?

Europe depends on a strong U.S. for a lot of things whether they know it or not. The U.S. used to depend on a strong Europe, but in the last 6 years we have learned to depend on ourselves because there doesn't seem to be a strong Europe anymore, only one who wants whatever it can get from back room deals like the Oil for Food sham or from appeasing aggressive regimes.

I really shouldn't bother writing so much here, I'm either preaching to the choir or to the ostriches and within minutes it is all swept away into the ocean of endless babble on YA.

The majority of Iranians are living with what they chose in 1979. Besides....now its all about creating more business opportunities... The US economy is saturated....and jobs are moving out....and the business community in US is using this to pressurize the government to create more opportunities for them. Thats why....all the old bombs are thrown at a country which can be captured by a small militia. And after they take over...what happens...well the US businesses get contracts to mend what the US military has broken. So don't give that blind philosophy and all....IF the USA was serious about fighting terrorism...it would not have shown double standards. And let me remind u that the forces that are so called freedom oppressors were actually US allies during the cold war. THE US created them for their short term interests. All their policies have been short termed...which has lead to long term consequences. NOW SUFFER>!
