I take it you would rather believe that a God may exist as opposed to saying out right that one doesn't. Spend some time in nature. Be there when your children are born. Look at the designs in the clouds. Look at a rainbow - God exists all around you by what he has created. Watch a butterfly float by. By the way just believing that their might be a God will not get you into heaven. You have to accept Jesus in your heart and live your life as a witness to others. No one can force you to believe. That's completely up to you.

I don't know . I do Know that for me it's a personal choice to believe there is a power higher than humankind and my own. I would prefer to think that there is a knowledge far greater, and understanding than my intelligence. When I am in pain and pray to that power it gives me comfort. My ethics and morals are not based on fear of going to some firey tormenting place if I am bad. Those principals are based on how I was raised, to be a good person, to understand right and wrong. To use reason, and just maybe my own personality is one of compassion, love, understanding, where that came from, part could be environment, upbringing, or something that has been in me all along.

you are right about religion, it is about social control
however, what men have used religion for does not disprove the existence of the Creator. I believe in the Creator (not the male Chrisitna god) because of my own personal, spiritual experiences, but I don't expect others to just accept my word for it.
Do you really want to know if the Creator exists? Meditate and try to "sense" or talk to the Creator and see if you get a response. Also, try going on into nature and feel the deeper life all around you.

I believe that there is some sort of higher being out there and im a spiritual person. However I will not peg myself to one religion. Every religion believes their god is the one to believe in and if you do not then you will go to hell. How do you know who's god is right? I just say be a good person and thats what matters.

There is no way in which you can know there is a God. But if you live your life as if there is a God, then you will earn the respect of the society and the people you deal with. When you die, If there is a God, then you win and go to heaven, but if there is no God, at least your memory which you left behind in the society you lived with will be reserved in there mind and perhaps they will honor your name. To live as if there is God is always better than to live as if there is no God.

Well, the idea isn't to know, it seems. It's about faith. If you believe in the invisible man in the sky, then it's real to you.
And if you check into anthropology, every culture around the world has a creation myth of some variety. People invent stories to attempt to understand things for which they cannot see clear evidence.

there are three ways to gain control in a society through military, religion and political. the fear of being considered dievant keeps you from committing crimes against the established rules, laws, mores of your society. So far as proving there is THE DEITY can you go outside and create the glories we see in nature all by yourself ? there has to be some sort of a HIGHER POWER no matter by what NAME one refers to THEM by.

No it is not weird, there is something inside you telling you that there must be a God.
It is a matter of faith, not magic or tricks. Jesus did come to this world sent by the Father. There is no doubt in my heart.

try to read the bible or a attend a few church services to help you if ur really concerned...but trust me i believe there is a god..there are too many good and bad things to say that there isnt...and faith is in your heart-you dont have to see it inorder to believe it..when i was going through some **** that was just dragging me down in so many ways something told me that things will get better -and trust-that wasnt me talking especially in the state of mind that i was in...but i agree that the church has abused the name of god in order to gain power-thats what confuses people and misleads them

You can't really know if there is a God - it's all a matter of definition. Some would say Satan causes bad things to happen, others would say God controls all. As for the crime question - crime is a wrong against the state, sin is a wrong against God (or nature).
