Yeah but the point your missing is if the Bible is the one true word of God, how can anything be wrong. You can't have it both ways. If your Perfect God really existed then he wouldn't have had a divine manual written with anything false in it. But if your trying to say that Man wrote the bible and its not to be taken literally at all...then I agree with you.

I love to see Christians disagreeing about how to take the Bible. It just shows it's not inspired, but only a book by men. If some god had a hand in writing it I would think all his followers would read it the same way. That would be a sign of inspiration, I might believe it too.

In my opinion , you are right that the holy book gives enlightening, liberation and wisdom.
Further more, the hooly book have words of God that is literaly truth. God is the absolute knowledg, absolute power, absolute mercy, absolute wisdom, beauty and love. A holy book that came from God should never contains stupid ideas or practices by any means.
Why you found lots of stupid and cruel ideas, practices and customs in a holy books that you have read?
I think the answer is one of the following two possibilities:
=== Misunderstanding the verses of the book. In this case we should find an experienced teacher to explain and guide us to understand. If you failed to find wisdom and light in the book, the other possiblity can be
===The book that you are reading is not a holy book. i.e, it is not the same book that have been quoted from God. ie, it is possible that some changes have been excercised to the original holy book through ommitios, additions, inaccurate traslations,....during hundered of centuries.
Will you allow a further explanation for my belief that Quran's wording is the same wording of God?
For Islam is that religion, which emphasizes on the need to acquire knowledge form the 'Cradle to the grave'. The Prophet of Islam considered the ink of a scholar more precious than the blood of a martyr. He did not discriminate between men and women in this regard and said, "Acquisition of knowledge is compulsory for every believing man and every believing woman. Although the number of literate people in the whole of Arabia at the dawn of Islam could be counted on the fingers of one's hands, the succeeding decades witnessed an enormous upsurge in scientific development and learning. So much so that the Muslim intellectuals and scientists surpassed even the ancient Romans and Greeks. Modern science owes everything to the knowledge that they obtained from the Muslims.
Dr. Keith Moore of the University of Toronto was amazed to find that many modern discoveries in the field of embryology must have been known to the author of the Qur'an, for these facts are either hinted at or stated explicitly in the Qur'an. This is particularly significant because the Qur'an claims to be the verbatim word of God. How could these facts have been known to any human being living in the 7th century? The presence of these in the Qur'an is proof enough that the Qur'an did not come from the mind of any human but must have been revealed from God whose knowledge is perfect and who therefore, knew what scientists will discover in the 20th century.
Dear Sister,
As for me, I read Quran many times, I found no stupidity at all.
In Quran you will find aquarate wording and verses that guides the reader to the the truth of God, prophecy, love& happiness, and enlighten human life with God presence in heart.
Also I read some pages from the arabic translation of bible,. there is no stupidity at all. Ideas in those pages of bible has no conflict with the clear ideas in Quran regarding Jesus's miracles,
forgiveness, love, equity between mankind,
On the other side I have seen some pages from Torah. It included many unlogical stories. Many bad descriptions for the prophets Abram, David, Soliman...Those expressions are not in harmony with respect and love for the prophets as stipulated by Islamic rules.

while you evaluate it is Christs be conscious. "i'm the way the actuality and the life". He says he's "God" . explanation why they are incorrect are they dont have the actual faith Jesus common which has been exceeded on by apostolic succession that our Pope Benedict is the successor of Peter. in accordance to the Catechism they won't of recieved the whole actuality of our faith and that they might nevertheless get to Heaven. we are encourraged to desire for conversion yet they are nevertheless incorrect. so some distance as "no longer following the Pope" you're actually not catholic in case you do no longer settle for all of the training and traditoins of the church.

Your question is good. The Church teaches that interpretation of the bible is to be in a literal sense, not a literalist sense.
You can get a better understanding of what this means at:

all need to respect the rights of others whether they agree with us or not. there is no one true way any more than there is one mortal who knows everything about anything. we can not concieve what THE DEITY has in store for mankind and why things are allowed now that were prohibited in earlier times. a part of a learning process i would guess.

The Bible cannot be taken all literally. Some of the Bible is parable, some is symbolic, some literal.

because the bible becomes meaningless if only part of it is true, literally true.
You can interpret Jesus as an ultimate truth brought about by impregnating as many (former) virgins as you can.
