Depends on who you ask. Cats are capable of running in sprints up to 30mph. Rabbits are capable of anything from 25 to 35mph. So I'd say, all things considered, they're fairly even.

Rabbits are definitely faster than toirtoses, though.

(I think the reason rabbits are able to get away from cats the majority of the time is because they're so quick on their feet. This doesn't have as much to do with speed as it does agility. If you've ever watched a rabbit, they can turn on a dime. Cats are agile, as well, just not as agile as rabbits can be.)

That depends if the cat a runner or a lazy.
If the cat is a runner then of course it's the cat.
I've had a Manx cat that usually takes its time
but when she was hanging around with a pet rabbit she liked to race and so did the rabbit. The cat won! Usually rabbits hop fast all the time. My cat as I said usually prefers to take her time. I lost her though she past on near mid July! I had 2 cats both manx one would race the other didn't want to do that! She just
wanted to stiff everything. She did get scared from Fire Cracker day bangs.. and she hasn't come back since!

I would have to vote for teh rabbit. When I have seen cats catch rabbits the cat has ambushed the rabbit, and if the cat tries to pounce too fast the rabbit always gets away.

My 3 year old Siamese male has caught 2 rabbits so far since we moved to our new home 1 year ago.. It could be more. But I only have seen 2 with my own eyes.

depends on age and weight. a 20# lazy old kitty cat is beaten by a 5# bunny but reverse it and the cat wins.
