'Committed' means the same thing is the US as it does in the UK. I looked at the answers, expecting to see all the Christians protesting, and saying things like "No way... its the atheists who should be committed." Instead, I found boneheads agreeing with you... and even justifying it with scripture. The only ones who 'got' it were 'non-believers'. Just one more piece to add to the huge pile of evidence that supports the dozens of studies that show that intelligence is negatively correlated to religiosity.

Committed to what? Committed to living a Christian life (i.e. following the teachings of Jesus)? If a Christian is sincere, he will also be committed. God bless you. ~Nisa

here is your answer in scripture

Titus 2:11-14 (King James Version)
11For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

12Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
