The idea of this party is that everyone mixes their own martini and we vote on the best one....Does anyone have ideas or recipes for a really good martini?

This is one I know personally, its called the sweet tart...

Sugar rim your glass...
In a shaker with ice put in, 1 1/2 shot of Raspberry Vodak, 1/4 shot of Blue Curaco, 1/2 shot of sweet and sour and a splash of sprite. Shake until nice and chilled. Pour in glass... garnish with a cherry or a slice of strawberry...yummy!

There is a martini called "Femme Fatale" made up after some famous bartender (last name Calabrese?) who wrote a bartending book that I have. He named it after Milla Jovavich, who I assume he served at his bar. I made it last night and it was absolutely delicious. I didn't have the creme de framboise, so I used milk instead.

Here is the recipe (as best as I remember it):

Ingredients: handful of fresh raspberries, 1/2 oz lemon juice, 1/2 oz orange juice, 2/3 oz. creme de framboise, 1.5 oz vodka, 1 teaspoon honey
Directions: put all ingredients in a shaker full of ice; shake really vigorously so that the raspberries break up; strain into a martini glass

ENJOY!

I don't have the recipe but my Mother-in-law loves to frequent martini bars she claims the best are

Carmel apple martini and
chocolate martini ......

I'm sorry I couldn't be more of a help, but I'm sure you could find a good bartender site on-line....Have fun and bottoms up!!!

To do a really good martini, you'll need really good ingredients.

If using vodka, use Grey Goose, Belvedere, etc. These are premium vodkas. Vodkas are neutral

But the main trick is using gin instead. The original martini uses gin. Get a really good gin to blow them away. I recommend Tanqueray No. 10.

A Black Martini will look good.

2 parts gin
1 part black sambuca

Shake gently with ice, and strain into glass. Please use a good black sambuca as well. It only takes one bad ingredient to spoil the martini. Therefore, when using really good vodka or gin, make sure the other ingredients are also really good.

No recipes but good advice! certainly mix your own martini's honey. But make sure nobody mixes anything into your glass! and for God's sake don't leave your bag lying around! If they don't steal your money they could steal your address!!! Have a good time, but be safe!!!!

A hummer martini is the best I've had, made with Kaluha, Rum and a spoonful of ice cream or a splash of cream.
