I grew up there - take a car 'cos the public tranport is diabolical.
There are lots of nice touristy places - go to Wells and Bath and the White Horse at Westbury. Also go up Glastonbury Tor.
If you go to Stonehenge DON'T pay - just cross over the road (careful - it's very busy) and peer through the fence. You don't get much nearer by paying and you'll have saved yourself a fortune.
Have a jolly time and don't forget to use cash points wherever you see one as there's not many around...

I used to holiday down there with my family year after year, and still go now with my own kids. West Somerset, round Porlock, on a little independantly run campsite in their static caravans. THere's only 20 vans, so its not like a Haven site. Nice and peaceful - I love it even when it rains.

Spent almoat all my holidays as a kid there and now that I'm all grown up, I still love it. Places like Bath, Weston-Super-Mare, Cheddar...wonderful. Lovely area, lovely people.

My grandfather was a Somersetter and he was the finest Englishman that ever lived (to me!).
