It seems you have figured out the right philosophy in life. Good and bad are indeed two sides of the same coin.

The bad part is extremely essential. It makes you humble, dissolves your excessive ego and instils appreciation. For those who learn lessons from it (I think you are the type), it provides the opportunity to grow and become better persons than we already are. Those who take it badly or negatively, obviously haven't fallen badly enough to learn.

The good part is what we all live for. It is something that we can never ever take for granted though. In good times we must remember how lucky we are to see such times and apply our minds and heart together to make it last. However, the humility must, and should be in tact.

Life is like a wave; it has its troughs and crests or ups and downs. If we take both as opportunities, it could be a wonderful experience and journey. Learning from mistakes is the way to the top - there is no other.

No, I don't think mistakes and bad times happen just to be available to contrast with the good times. I think mistakes are just that. Some may be avoidable, if we thought things through, or had more resources at the right time, etc, but we are not perfect and thus everything cannot go perfectly, all the time.

I think the good times are a product of our efforts. The more effort we make to have good times, the more we will have. That means taking the time to analyze and understand the mistakes and bad times, to learn from them - which is hard. We don't want to remember mistakes.

Life is all about learning about what life is. I think we go through bad times and make mistakes so that we appreciate the finer things that life has to offer. It makes you a stronger person. You can let it get to you and cause you to fall apart. Or you can approach it as a challenge and tackle it. You might learn something about yourself from all this but I think the most important thing is knowing that whatever happens, there is and always will be someone in a worse situation than yourself. Think about that and then your problem would seem insignificant in front of that. Hope that helps!

Absolutely. I believe that everything happens for a reason. It might not be obvious at the time, but through the thin threads of life you will eventually come to realise that if you didn't make that one little decision, or go through that bad time then you wouldn't get to that great place, meet that particular person, experience that good part of life.

Keep your chin up until you get there!

Most of the mistakes happen while we believe we are going through a good time! They then become the bad times.

Everything in life has a reason. Things without reason are pointless.

Bad times are there so as we can enjoy good things more. We can feel the value of good things if we have gone through its opposite.

Absolutely. Even if it weren't meant to be that way, thinking that way is very healthy. I came to that conclusion decades ago and I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who's thinking.

I like these old sayings: "Life is long, the road is rough. If a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough." and this one: "When the goin' get's tough... the tough get goin'." These probably came from a US Marine... some of the toughest guys on the planet.

Yes. I feel as if we all have different life lessons to learn in life and that the only way to learn these lessons is to deal with crap in our lives, ya know, crappy people, crappy jobs, crappy situations, etc. We think about the situation, learn from it, and move on in life. When we don't learn from them, we repeat it over and over again (that's why some people seem to be with the same type of boyfriends: jerks etc)

Also, if we didn't have hard times, we couldn't appreciate the good times that come along. :)

Yes, I agree. Most of us don't realize the beauty around us or how fortunate to have people who care about us. We don't seem to appreciate the good things, just simply don't see it until we lose it.
When we experience some misfortune than we realize we should give in a little, to open ourselves to view things at a different angle. Maybe all these are lessons of our life.

I don't think it's a prerequisite, but it sure works out that way.

By the way & FYI, the previous quote; "Life is long, the road is rough. If a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough..." is from the Johnny Cash song - a Boy Named Sue - by Shel Silverstein.
