lot of christians now do, and the catholic church is leading the march.
Story of Genesis should not be taken literally. in fact it was not written to be taken literally. the base of Genesis is to show our link to the higher God power, and thats how i look at it.
so as christians why cant we believe in some aspects of evolution which is real?

Yes. I absolutely think that evolution should be incorporated in religion. It is true, and religion is supposed to base itself on the search for the truth. I think it's rather like denying the truth of global warming: we weren't there to see the changes happen, but that doesn't mean they haven't. I am a theist, and I think evolution just shows the true genius of the Deity, putting a plan in place that took millions of years to work. I think that's pretty cool, really.

In my opinion, religion and science are very similiar yet remarkably different. Simply put, they are both just a set of ideas designed to allow us to try to understand how and why we are here, and how the world around us operates.

For many years (1000's i believe), science was a frowned upon study - religion (in one form or another) was the only set of beliefs that people were allowed to follow. Religion was used as a means to influence people, build wealth and power, and to explain the remarkable things we see in our everyday lives.

As mankind has grown (evolved) in recent times, we have achieved a society with the freedom to question. The result is that over the past few hundred years, using logic and reason, we have found ways other than religion to explain many complex occurances in the world we know. A shift towards a wider belief of science over religion has happened.

The influence of religion most probably peaked hundreds of years ago, and science appears in my mind to be much more influential in todays age.

My view is that if religion is to continue to be a major part of our society's beliefs, then religion must evolve. Adapting religious beliefs to scienctific beliefs may just keep religion around a lot longer.

However, at the end of the day, both religion and science are theories.

Which ever theory (or combination of theories) we choose as individuals to favour, the same purpose is achieved. Each provides an explanation and reason for our being.

Mankinds greatest weakness, is our inability to function without purpose and reason.

But.... those are just my thoughts!

Cheers

Natural biological evolution fails at all levels except for those species numbering more than about one quadrillion individuals with generation times less than three months and body sizes smaller than one centimeter.

although I don't understand much about it. Surely we are not evolved from other animals, we are created in the image of God, for goodness sakes. Prophets have seen and spoke to God face to face and heard from His own mouth that we are His children. why try to adapt to the world? who knows what theory the world will come up next overruling evolution?! God's words never change, they are eternal truths as things were, as things are and things will be. We should seeking light and truth and mysteries from God, not trying to fit him to our own imperfect intellect.

With evolution not proven and Christianity proven (Christ risen from the dead), It would take more faith than I have to believe evolution.

Keep evolution out of religion and faith.

God created, and he guided evolution through his mighty hand. That's the way it is.

If you believe in evolution then leave god alone because he created Adam and Eve and not "Adam and Steve"(Evolution).
