Only if you are not a minor, and preferably not on your own. I guess sometimes meaningful relationships start online, so if you feel safe and secure, why not? Just don't depend on this person for your travel arrangements, accommodation etc.

A friend of mine was living in Uganda for a year. One time he is travelling between cities on the bus and one of his fellow passengers is this girl of 15 or 16, who is Danish and has come from Denmark to Africa by herself to meet this Ugandan boy of the same age she had an online romance with. How crazy is that. He witnessed them meeting for the first time and apparently it was quite sweet.
I don't see any reason not to do it if you get to know the person well enough before you go.

Females absolutely not. If they want to meet you they should arrange to come to where you are. There are lots of American females kidnapped overseas and forced into the sex trade and are made to get into prostitution. In this day and time I would not ever go to another country to meet someone. People in a lot of other countries really do not like American citizens either.

No too much travel, and money involved to risk meeting a person that could only find a date online.

I've been thinking the same. And it all depends. Depends of the type of "relationship" , if you go by yourself, if it's that expensive. Etc.
To answer you, yes I would, in fact I'm going. Internet is as full as freaks as real life is.
But also, without the internet, you would probably never met in the first place. So I suggest you to go, just take your precautions.
And tell me how it went.

NO WAY. there are maniacs and creeps out there on the internet. I know many people trying to send money to the people they meet on the internet so they can come and visit etc. it's usually a scam and fraud. ( I work in a call centre for money tranfers) some people go to visit those people and get robbed and killed. How can you possibly think about it?

Maybe no. I would prefer asking the other person if he/she is willing to do so? If no then i would stop thinking about it but if yes then i would not mind giving it a second thought..
