Over granulating means that your skin is producing too many new skin cells which is called granulation tissue. Iodine kills granulation tissue which is why it burns and its why we dont use it on every single scrape or cut anymore. Sounds like you are getting good care, sorry about your accident.

It is healing from the sides and crusting over the top before the bottom of the wound has chance to heal. I had this with an absess removed some years ago, it has to heal from the surface of the wound first, otherwise infection could be present and erupt in a very nasty way! It could either come upwards to the surface, or, work its way down towards the bone, which on a finger is not very far indeed! it will sting like buggery, but its doing you good!

Your Doctor's telling you that your skin is becoming too grainy or rough most likely creating too many cells, and that the top layer is healing before the bottom. It is still in the healing process, but for it to heal correctly with no abnormalities. The new iodine kills the granulation tissue that is overgrowing.... My mother is an RN in the miltary which is the best source I could find. ^_^ good luck Get well SOON

granulation is new tissue and capillaries (tiny blood vessels)forming,if your tissue is overgranulating it just means its growing quicker than expected and you have the iodine to stop infection getting into the wound until the skin has formed to cover the wound. iodine will sting a lot as the nerves endings grow back.
dont worry. it ll be ok.

It simply means your skin isn't regenerating as it is supposed to be, the dressing was hindering and not helping in the skin growing back healthy. By switching you are allowing your skin to grow back as it should. The new dressing is allowing your skin to do as it should and the stinging will subside as soon as it gets rid of the bad stuff.

Sorry about your finger! I bet that hurts!

He was probably trying to think off the top of his head but good that h replaced the dressing and disinfected it anyway. Stingin sensation probably a similar reaction to salt (cleaning of the blood). Dont know wether that helps.

It's fighting infection. Chill. No biggie. Will probably take an extra week to heal.

Your skin is overgranulating because you have too much sugar in your pants.
