ONCE, because after that you are folding it into quarters, then eighths, etc. If you were to answer it beyond this trick question, then 8 would be maximum.

if you want it to fold in a very small sheet you will gonna have to fold 17 times to have your paper be like a pice of sheet......a pice of cake right???
