Number of countries according to their continents and number of launguages for each tribe in each country.

There are 192 members of the UN.
There are probably a couple of countries that are not members of the UN.

According to "ethnologue" (#2 below), there are 6,912 known living languages.

When I was in college, I remember hearing that there were more than 10,000, but that may have included dialects and languages that have since become extinct

A couple of hundred countries and a couple of thousand languages (past/present) that are still in existence in some form
