There are different dialects of Arabic, Saudi Arabic would be slightly different to the Egyptian version which in turn would be different to the Tunisian version.
The main reason Arabic is widely spoken in the Islamic world is because the Koran is in Arabic.

Some Islamic countries don't have Arabic as the main language like Malaysia and Indonesia.

It is narrow minded ignorance that breeds this type of question. Muslims, (as is true for Christians and most other religions), speak the language of the family they were born into. There are Muslims all I've the globe, therefore there is no language that they all speak. There is no language that a majority of them speak. Even in the Arabic world alone, (where the religion originated), there are several different dialects.

No, but Arabic is the language of the Muslim faith and most Muslims speak Arabic. In fact, the dialogue is surprisingly similar across the Arab world. This is probably because they all read from the same version of the Koran.

:-) ha ha, just read your 'southern Iraqi' bit. Expect you'll get some stick for that. Some nasty answers on this page. Some people just shouldn't be so easily agitated. If we can't have a crack at religion now and then, we might as well live in a police-state.

No, muslims speak the language of the country or area they're from. There are muslims in the US that speak English. Here in Iraq, there is no "Shiite" language, the Shiites and the Sunnies mostly speak Arabic. (The Shiites and Sunnies are different divisions of the Muslim religion, and each believe that they are better than the other) Best of luck to you.

but knowing Arabic in order to be able to read the Quran in it's original language is sure an advantage that the Arabs have. many Muslims non Arabic speakers seek learning Arabic.

southern Iraqis/northern Iraqis ALL Arabs speak Arabic.
there's no such language as Shiite.
Shiite is a sect of Islam like protestant in Christianity.

peace.

Religion has to do nothing with language. Language is spoken to communicate within the society you live in and religion is the code of conduct you follow to become a useful member of the society.

In every country, people from different religions live but they speak the language, which is commonly used in that country. For example, if you are in USA, weather you are a Muslim, Christian, Jew, Hindu or follower of Buddism, you will speak English because in USA, majority of the people uses English for communication. Similarly in Germany, people of all religions will speak German, as its the language spoken in that country.

Arabic is not the official language of Islam as some one said earlier in their answer. Islam is a universal religion (its message is not only for Arabs but for all the people in the universe), so it gets spread and translated in the language, the locals of that area speak. Quran has been translated in all the languages of the world and people do read its translations in their native language.

There is no specific language for shiiets or Sunnies (2 sects of Islam), they also speak the language of their native countries.

Yes and no. There is at present dispute within Islam. Some want to return to the word of the book, while others want to reform Islam or modernise it. A kind of reformation may be taking place. It will not happen peacefully and it will not end without much bloodshed.

it doesn't matter, does it.it just depends on what race you are.if you're Chinese and Muslim, you speak Chinese.it doesn't mean that they know how to speak in Arabic.they usually speak in Arabic when praying, but that is they memorize the Arabic words or something.plus, the southern iraqis doesn't talk shitt.it's just their language.
