Yep, but make it a special cake, like an ice cream cake or something. Unless, she's your girlfriend...sweetheart girlfriend. Then, you may want to stick some bangles or earrings in with that cake.

Depending on how long you have been with this girl I'd personally advise a Teddy Bear to go along side the cake or a Signle rose in a ribbon or earrings a watch something in that line or get her a cake and a nice fuzzy blanket and in her card detail as to the reason you got that blanket so fuzzy was so that when you are not around to cuddle with her that she can cuddle with the blanket you purchased thinking entirely about you and what you two may enjoy together next time you are together!!! Girls love stuff like that!!!!

A Birthday cake is not a gift but a birthday party with many guest and presents including something special from you would make her very happy.

i personally wouldnt want a cake unless you really couldnt bake and i knew the effort that went into it was yours,,then maybe it could be special but even then it isnt about the cake is it,its about the effort.maybe something a little more personal.

It would be a nice gift....hopefully that isn't all you will get her.
Turning 18 is a big deal. Get her an adult gift too....like jewelry.
Something REAL. Not anything you would get at Walmart.

mmm nice but not really something she will appreciate as much from you, she'd prefer something more personal, ie special chocolates for her only or somethign more personal
