THE FRUITS OF THEIR SPIRIT WAS AN OPEN BOOK

Gal.5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal.5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

I don't understand i'm so confused .

What it is saying that the body is suffering - but if you focus on the spirit you do not suffer.

2006-09-07 00:19:54 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

The human being is paradox. We are both a Divine spirit, and
an evil physical being. The nature of the body is to be selfish, and we use each other. The spirit, the conscience, lets us know we
are doing wrong. So the spirit wars with the flesh.
It is said that without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin. Blood is a symbolic term that refers to ones personal spiritual power.
We have to suffer in order to purge ourselves of all the negative
energy we hold inside. The pain, the anger, the resentment.
because these things cannot exist where God and Jesus are.
Let it go!

Romans chapter 8 is worth spending some time with. It says that we must suffer with Christ that we may be also glorified with him and that his glory be revealed in us. Romans 8 also explains a lot about Galatians. It contrast the Spirit and the flesh. If after reading Romans 8 you are still confused, email me by clicking on Preacher and let me know specifically what concerns you and I will get back with you as soon as possible. Thank you for this question.

First of all, Paul is talking to Jewish Christians who still thought that they had to keep the law.

He's saying that, if you're a born again Christian, accepting Jesus Christ as your personal saviour and that you recognise that you're a sinner, then the Holy Spirit will live in your mind, with you.

Over time, if you ask God to change you and desire to become more like him, the spirit will indeed change you to become like Gal 5:22-23.

The converted Christian, although he receives the gift of the Holy Spirit, still retains the old, sinful, nature, and there is a continual conflict with these two ideologies in our minds. At first, we give in to our old sinful nature mostly, but as we mature as a CHristian and establish a good relationship with Christ, we'll follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit more and more.

Hello; this is a good question.
RE Galations 5: It is speaking of the battle that goes inside of every Christian - the flesh (the old man apart from Jesus Christ) and the new man (in Christ we are born again and are new creations in Him - changed from the inside out). We still have bodies that lust after sin. We are to be filled (controlled) by the Holy Spirit (He is eternal God and indwells every believer) - in His strength we can live victorious Christian lives.
RE Suffering and Christians: The Bible tells us that God uses suffering to make us more like Jesus Christ (His goal for every Christian), so that we may experience His comfort, so that we may comfort others, to teach us to trust Him, and also to humble us. God shows His grace strong and sufficient in our weaknesses.
Please read the Bible passages below, and be encouraged, God loves you and His grace is sufficient for your every need.
1. A Thorn in the Flesh (from 2 Corinthians 12)
7 Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me--to keep me from exalting myself!
8 Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me.
9 And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness " Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
10 Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
***********************************************
2. 2 Corinthians 1:3 -7 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer; and our hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that as you are sharers of our sufferings, so also you are sharers of our comfort.

Not only christians have to suffer. People create their own suffering, and usually blame others for their suffering.
