move the ball back in your stance to ensure hitting the ball on the DOWNWARD motion. Make a crisp, steeper downswing to get the most backspin. You are asking for trouble if you EVER try to hit a wedge on the upward motion..

Firstly you need a soft ball, a pro v 1 is considered the best, put the ball further back in your stance and have a steep angle of attack to the ball, titleist spin milled wedges will also help, happy golfing!

one person understands backspin..........all the others...well i know why there are so many hacks. people just don't understand the physics of the game. pinch the ball on the downswing. that will impart spin with any club.

Open the club face a bit and strike the ball on your upward motion so have the ball running parralel with your ankle, thats what I do
