Well, the answer to that is obvious. Of course he took risks. No matter how much you may think you may know an animal, any time you grab an alligator by the tail and lift it up, you are taking a risk. Every time I pick up my cat I am taking a risk that she will scratch my eyes out. Animals are animals and can do unpredicatble things, things that we as humans cannot understand.

Steve Irwin did take risks, but as I understand it this time...he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I don't think that he was taking any major risks on this particular trip....but that this was a freak accident. All of the "experts" say that sting rays are peaceful creature that only use their tails as a defense when attacked or in this case startled.
Anyone who has gone diving/snorkeling takes a risk, with any number of creatures.
To answer your question no i don't think so.

I would say Steve Irwin was a very brave man. He loved animals and all animals not just the cute little furry ones. He took extreme measures to help us all understand these creatures, I really enjoyed watching and becoming a part of his adventures. He will be missed and remembered as a courgeous man who loved all of God's creatures.

Yes Steve took risks but they were were caculated. Isn't their a risk of being hit by a car if you cross the road! He was a professional and took acceptable risks within his field of being a wild life warrior. He will be missed.

Of course. But we can't blame himfor living his life exactly the way he loved. We should applaud him. Risks were a part of his job, and you could tell he genuinley adored those animals, passion such as that has a tendency to catch you up, but who are we to say he made mistakes? Until we enjoy life as much as Steve did i say we stop thinking who or why...Just thankGod some people put passion in front of practicality. Look how happy it made him right 'til the end
RIP steve x x x

WE all take risks in life. Getting in our car to go to work or the shops is a risk.
He knew the risk he took in life. At least he passed away doing what he enjoyed and had a passion for. He was an intelligent man. He knew what he was doing. ask any one who works in medical, jail system, army, navy etc they are all risky jobs but because these people are not well known no-one really cares. Don't get me wrong he did alot for Australia and conservation. But there are bigger hero's out there. Trust me. My husband is a HERO!!!!!!!!!!!

Another silly question.
How could they NOT be a factor?
OF COURSE the risks he took were a factor. If he hadnt taken the risk of swimming in the ocean, he wouldnt have come in contact with the stingray would he?
He took a risk, he died - pretty closely related wouldnt you say?

Yes, his job had more risks than the majority of people when he went to work. But it was something that he loved to do. Look how happy he was. He also died doing something that he loved. He lived his life to the fullest.
