one main reason, Canada is F UCKED, they don't want foreign doctors or engineers, they say that those people don't have experience and need to study in canada, but they can't study and feed their family at the same time that's why they are working as security guards and taxi cab drivers...
I'm from Canada
"I'm not trying to boast, but Canadian degrees are top quality"
CANADIAN degrees=piece of s.hit, education in canada is piece of s.hit THEY DON'T WANT EDUCATED PEOPLE, THEY WANT TAXI CAB DRIVERS, DON'T YOU GET IT YET?

Canada doesn't allow a person to work in the areas which requires special skills or experience unless or until he/she meets the canadian qualifications. Canada believes that either you should be theoritically very brilliant or you should have a good experinece.
So one has to write exams to meet the canadian criteria. For example an engineer from another country has to write exam with Candian Council for Mechanical Engineers to get the licence to work as an engineer (any discipline). Then only he can put P.Eng or P.Ing. on his visiting cards. Then he recieves a seal which he can use to put on the documents (just like in courts) to verify the authencity of the document.
Now your question: why doctors and engineers.........the reason is that in India there are 13500 private colleges and in US there are 3500 at the most. Anyone who can pay donation gets admission in any engineering college (except IITs, AIIMS). Can you compare the qualifications and experience level of them with Canadian counterparts...that what the institutions there think. So to bring all the people at par they have the licencing system.
But, now a days they are relaxing this system (of licencing) to recognize good degrees/marks so that more & more people immigrate to Canada...without a need to appear in the exams.....so that's the reason that the doctors & engineers who cannot clear the Canadian exams have no choice but to work as security guards and taxi cab drivers....some adjust to the circumstances.......some come back to India.

1) A security guard who is also a doctor is always a help when someone is ill in the building.
2) An engineer will be the best cab driver, he can not only fix the mechanical problems of the cab, he can also build the road...the garage and all that.

The basic answer to this question is that there schooling isn't the same as Canada's so don't meet the same requirements as a doctor or engineer that studied here in Canada.
I personally don't agree with this but this is the law. I think if you meet the requirements then you should be allowed to work in your Field. As long as you came to Canada legally and have got your papers.

Every country has their own standards for doctors . The first problem is the English language. The countries of Canada, USA, England, Australia do except all doctors in these countries. All other countries have an English barrier problem. Then the schooling is different in other countries. So the standards are different in other countries. So Canada has very strict rules. I don't blame Canada for having these rules.

Two main reasons:
1) These people ususally left quite wealthy lifestyles from places like Iran, Iraq, Afganistan so that their children can grow up in a country with a future and now need whatever job they can find to stay in the country.
2) International degrees arn't always recognized. I'm not trying to boast, but Canadian degrees are top quality. There are a lot of countries that can give you a medical degree probably for showing up. If you went to see one of those, you'd probably die. Or they would steal your money.
There are ways to become recertified, but it just means that a lot of people are willing to take shitty jobs so that they can get a good life for their children. Things like taxes and the cost of living are hinderences that the immigrant might not have had back home.

Every country has their own requirements for professional occupations. Those who are educated and liscenced in one country and who want to move and work in another country, must meet the requirements for liscensing in the new country. Sometimes this takes awhile, as some further schooling may be required. There are exceptions, of course ... there are countries who readily transfer licensing from select countries. It all depends on what the country of origin is, and what the country of emigration is. In the meantime ... most people like to eat and have a roof over their heads, so they work at whatever job they can while working on professional licensing.

Canada has a certain standard to maintain. Poorly trained engineers and doctors can kill. All foreign trained professionals are welcome to being tested by their controlling body and get recognition.
However, not all foreign trained professionals are required to be tested. Some countries have recognized accreditation systems in place and therefore have professionals with recognized skill sets.
Ummmm.... what does this have to do with travel???

My buddy, the taxi fare from JFK to large apple, that's $40 5, purely applies to journeys from the airport to Midtown, large apple. in case you going everywhere else in large apple, for instance the better West section, the fare is slightly more desirable. My suggestion, take the subway quite. At $2 a vacation, its faster and lower priced than taking a taxi. solid success

This is becuase stuff like that from other countries are not recognized here. Its a little understandable becuase our medicine and procedures are different. And I think we're a little more advanced then places like over east. It does suck though.. my friends father moved here from Lebenon, over there he was a Math teacher... and here in Ontario his experience and diploma's mean nothing. It really sucks that way becuase math is math right? It actually is the same over there but here he just works in a cafeteria. :(
