Meditation is a wide subject to describe in short. Best way to learn is to attend some classes.Mindfulness is the secret of meditation. An action of attention to an object or emptiness with consciousness is meditation. In the beginning, you should see your breath coming in coming out.Any time but in calm atmosphere is good time for meditation.

Pick a word you're comfortable with, something that soothes you. For example, gentle. Sit down anywhere, preferably somewhere quiet, and maybe in a simple Hatha Yoga pose (Google Hatha Yoga to find poses, on Images), although you can also just sit. Then slowly breathe in and breathe out, become completely aware of your heart, you mind, your hand, all of your body. Start from your toes to your nose. Don't think about anything else but the word 'gentle'. Everytime you EXHALE repeat GENTLE to yourself (or whatever word it is you choose).

:) Hope you have a nice meditation!
