I lucked out. We chatted online for six weeks before we spoke on the phone. It took another three months before we met in person. I did do a background check (35$) and spoke to his sister on the phone before meeting him. We've been together for almost two years now. Good luck and DON"T SETTLE!

I have met people online before, with an online dating service and through chat rooms.
Usually I meet up with people pretty quickly through the internet, and yes there have been some success stories.
I am still good friends with one of my chatroom girls that i met online, the other ones..well I guess they just wanted something quick like a drive through at McDonald's I guess. lol

What do you mean by "success"?
I met up with guys online quite a number of times. It took about a couple of weeks to few months of chatting before I decided to meet them, depending on what kind of guys they are.
But if you're asking about having a boy-girl relationship after meeting your online friend, then from my experiences, nothing worked out.
Anyway, good luck to you. Be careful of who and where you're meeting this online buddy.

My cousin married a girl he met online.
Almost all the dates I get are with guys that I've met from chats and messaging. If I'm chatting with someone who lives nearby and there's a chance to meet, it's better to meet before you chat too much. You need to get to know the real person before you fall in love with their online personality.

It took 3 months to meet, but its not a good idea - meet him as soon as possible, coz in my case i had too many expectations and i dreamed about him, idealised him sooo much that of course it was a disappointment to meet him finally... although we were together for five years after that and lived very happily :-)))))

ok, mine might encourage you :D i met a guy through a common friend, he is in Canada, I am in India. we met after 8 months of chatting and talking, when he came here. it was one roller-coaster ride, but totally worth it. we were not how we had expected each other to be, but there was explosive chemistry. he's gone back, and it is going to be an year soon and we are still going strong. he is 23, i am 22. i am soooooo glad i have him ;)

well, my mom met this one guy.he was great and all, and it only took about a month to meet him. he was really sweet and great to the small family i have. but my darling, he cheated. and with a long-distance relationship, it's hard to resist temptation. i could give you the whole schmeel, but that'd take forever. remember, though, not all guys are like that

Yes. It depends where she lives. Two days, three days, a month, a year.
