Nobody was protesting and bitching about wiping two Japanese cities off the map when we dropped the bombs.Why can't we do it now in the middle east?

I think our weakness and inability to resolve conflicts, dramatically. We be the end of the U.S., the world is slowly turning on us!

because things are more politically correct now adays and we try to end conflicts with as little collateral damage as possible. What kind of support would we get from the Iraqi's if we dropped an atomic bomb on them. This is a conflict where we are trying to help a government get established and not just destroy them to end a war. Japan got what they deserved at Hiroshema and Nagasaki but through it all we have become great allies.

How come Japan was able to invade and kill of many thousands in China, or for that matter the genocide in Cambodia, or the slaughter of Hmongs in Laos, or the ongoing strife in Sri Lanka? Your question is asking for condoning of death, but is should not have occurred....anywhere. It is time to stop the stupidity of war.
