Wierd. Have you checked her tongue for injuries? Sometimes they bite their tongue and can harm it quite badly. The vet could look at her throat too.

If she likes tuna, open a can on the counter...if that doesn't make her meow, nothing will.

Is she your only cat? If so, it might be because you have lost yours! Talk to her more. If need be, imitate her old meow and use it to communicate with her. Cats are actually very verbal. They express themselves a lot through sound. But what's the point if no-one is listening?

you know this happend to my persian cat..he was very overweight and when he would open his mouth to meow this pitiful little scratchy chirp would come out..some cats are very quite some even whisper nobody truley knows what goes on in a cats head besides a cat..s/he just may not want to meow..or it could be a sore throat which will usually be fine in a few days..make sure your cat has plenty of fresh cold cold water! and good luck to you and your furry princess!

It just happens with age. When my cat reached 16 she would meow - I mean she would mouth it but no noise would come it. Silent meows!!

my ginger cat did this.
I suspect It's because he never had to meow i just knew what he wanted.

Cats are strange like that I'm positive they send messages telepathically because you always know when they are at the door waiting to come in.

Depression! I am serious! Mine meows constantly either because of it or is sometimes is dead quiet. The veterinary say cats can have depression too.

She could have a health problem and is being very quiet, cats hide them well. maybe you should take her for a check up.

Or maybe she feels she has nothing to meow about.

when our late lamented cat Sophie lost hers it was because she tried to eat an RAF 59 seater bus.tyre while it was moving..she was very poorly but my wife and more importantly my 9 year little girl bought her back from the brink of death..she lived for a total of 21 years and was very loving she used to wait for me to take my work shirt off,i would throw it on the floor and she would go mad rolling around with it..until it went in the washing basket...(i think she liked my scent on my shirt..she would only do it with mine no one elses..) the weird world of animals ..lol

Uhh..she must have eaten a lizard! Does she now nod? If not, ... gotcha run for it now..coz its undergoing metamorphosis and the next sound she'll make is a wild cat growl!
