Yes. It was quite amazing actually. I was in a museum/ gallery in Holland and saw a portrait of a little girl c.17th century and she looked just like i did at the same age. It was amazing. My husband and i were wondering around looking and i had already been amazed by the likeness and then he came up to me later and said "have you seen the painting of you.."
I had to buy a post-card of the painting to send to my mum.

Yes, there is a picture by Hans Baldung "der Tod und das Maedchen" (Death and the girl) and the girl looks just like I did at the same age and my daughter does now.. And I met a Cellist the other day who looks like a medieval Austrian picture of St Benedict. I think he felt I was interested in him;-)

artwork is an ongoing practise, really to artists. We study the former Masters, view the trendy-day artwork and proceed on looking, seeing, recognize-how (?), perchance no longer, yet in basic terms playing. each and each and every artist (I ought to assert maximum) has some reason to create, some purpose, some theory to positioned forth, some thing to tug out from interior... in basic terms keep looking, seeing, doing artwork and do not enable your self get so wrapped in to each and each and every of the recognize-how/which means factors. some artists quite opt to get their "message" (with the intention to talk), in the time of, some in basic terms opt to do their artwork and do not want to have their visitors "comprehend". i don't sense that you've "locked the major" yet UNLOCKED the door to superb exploration into all the international of artwork, and theres a lot! loosen up and do not imagine so demanding about it.

My parents used to have the Mona Liza and Venus de Milo on their walls (not the originals of course) and they said the Mona Lisa looked like me and the Venus de Milo like my sister. I think I look a lot better now!

Yes, it has happened to me. It is a portrait of a young man coming out of the dark, you can only see a few facial features.
I acquired it on the spot. It hangs today in my bedroom, just above my desk.
