conservative Muslim weddings end with the newly weds having sex, theoretically for the first time for the bride, and then the mother takes out the sheets of the bed to show the signs of blood to the guests, who wait outside. It's a great shame for the groom and the family if the bride is not a virgin, very often it results in the killing of the bride.
173$ for honor and life is a small sum even in 3rd world countries.
But the relaxing influence of the west is effecting the behavior of young Muslim women, who sometimes have sex before marriage.
So there is a boom in hymen reconstruction business.

actually its all over the world now. its making its way like a fashion statement. u can even see, gynaes sugessting it in magazines now-a- days. women in order to give their husbands a gift perform hysterectomy, u know the whole first experience thing. some sin and to cover up their guilt they do hysterectomy. the sad part is, why do women have to go through so much to please men?

and remember, girls dont lose their virginity just by having sex, some lose it when they play extreme sports, strecthing at gyms, and others by using tampons or certain toys. there have been cases where the girl doesnt show the thruth of her virginity until a few days of living together with her husband. so never be in a haste to judge.

it happens in all cultures even today, where a girl's virginity is important to all. esp if u go to places like India or Africa, its quite tough rules there , for both muslims and non-muslims. when one of my Hindu freind got married, her in-laws insisted on the first night thing being done at the hotel they stayed for the (recpetion on next day). and there was this another freind of mine, whose father inspite of being in an army, (they were initially from nagaland, india), her mother-in-law insisted that the bedsheets would be on the balcony of her house for everyone to see. and this happens even in muslim house-holds. its ridiculous culture. why should only a woman go through all of this. i think people should get out of these stupid activities.

It's not limited to Islamic nations. Anyone who puts a ridiculous vaue on a scrap of tissue might be willing to fake it. There are even married women in the US having it done as a "special treat" for their husbands.

It's pretty senseless, but as long as it's voluntary, it's their own business. For some women, it can be life saving in cultures where not being a virgin outside of marriage, even if from a brutal rape, is punished by banishment or death.

The reason may lie in the fact that all muslim's are being told to question themselves in the middle east.
Bin Laden preaches that muslim' should rise up and destroy the west in a holy gihad. If this was Tony Blair using christianity as a tool to recruit the masses in a war against an enemy, and that everyone was going to church to prove their allegiance, would you join in?
So women in the middle east who can afford such an operation may be getting their hymens repaired to show that they are devout muslim's, and to show their love for their man.
It may also be that they do not want to appear to be impure or damaged because they do not have a hymen, when it comes to the time for marriage.

The relation between blood on the sheets and lost virginity has a history that goes back thousands of years. wives who didn't bleed during their first time were accused of infidelity and killed for it. so some women have their hymen repaired before their wedding night.

well sometimes a woman doesnt have an intact hymen because they are physically active or had some other trama to it. so that being said i think it would be important for a woman in those countries to get it done to protect their good name and that of their family...westerners dont understand about that too well.
