To earth angel: the Catholic Church is not prejudiced to anyone Catholic means universal, for everyone.
Not even to homosexuals, that we don't condone sin is another story.

"Last"? No, hardly. Compared with atheists, Catholics are a protected species. Catholics have a LOT of power in society, and can hardly claim to be oppressed victims.

However I have noticed that many of the other Christians do seem to have a special interest in attacking Catholicism. That should make Catholics particularly interested in defending the separation of church and state. Just as the religious right turned on gays (gay marriage) once they got their way with respect to abortion, they're going to turn on Catholics once they can't get any more mileage out of attacking Muslims and atheists. Bank on it.

If you help give away our rights now, you're going to lose your own rights next.

In a recenrt poll, of all the religions in America, Catholicism ranked rather high on the "trustworthy" catagory, while atheists were regarded as the "least trusted".

You can't deny that the Catholic Church has bought at least some of its problems on itself...like refusing communion to any Catholic who dared to vote for John Kerry, or trying to force an 11 y-o girl to carry a fetus to term despite the fact that her father was the father. Ot high-handed moralizing about how the Cahtolic Church is the only valid moral authority in the world while sumutaniously hiding and protecting pedophiles and predators among the clergy. And the list goes on...

It would seem.

Anything referencing Catholicism or the Catholic Church pretty well gets ripped in this forum.

There is no shortage of uninformed and uneducated people.

P.S. Addition: I guess my point was made rather early. I understood your question/comment.

I am amazed at the ignorance that is flaring up here.

Try being a Catholic in Northern Ireland. In Ardoyne, they spit on and throw urine on the grade school kids walking through the protestant neighborhoods on the way to Holy Cross Catholic school. Please take the time to check out the link.

That's a pretty common charge by Catholics; and perhaps true to a degree. At the same time, however, many Christians (at least in the US) are somewhat under the false belief that they are victims of prejudice: try being black, gay, poor, illegal, then you will know what prejudice is like.

if being Rcc is my foundation and people try to shake it with their ignorance then so be it. It never ceases to amaze me how every other denomination will stand up when things are said against it - yet the Rcc just stand there and take it. i think you are right, i don't like it, but i think you are right. look at the media - look at people on this forum. people walk around criticizing what they do not know, they lash out at that which scares them, they hang onto the negative and embellish the truth.
We are told we need to stand up and be counted -- i'm standing and i'm learning more and more so i can stand stronger.
YSIC.

When Catholics who prejudiciously discriminate against certain minorities find there is some prejudice against them also they should not be surprised or whine and sulk, if you dish it out you must expect to have to take it in return.

Oh on this Yahoo answer forum yes it is pretty acceptible to insult Catholics...and other Christians for that matter. But i think its a economic reason for yahoo...or AT@T...but if they keep it up they will lose money keeping all of their Indian and gay clients happy.
