for equality. They had peaceful rallies and demonstrations and did every thing in a non violent manner before their rights were granted. Now these illegals come and run a muck having riots, burning flags, and breaking laws. Yet they will probably become citizens by 2008. They will have every thing they want handed to them on a silver platter. What makes them So damn special?

It was unfortunate and wrong that it too so long to get rights to blacks after the end of slavery. It seams hypocritical though to slander another group and stereotype that they are doing it all wrong. Overall I'd say illegals are following a similar path to equality. Our rights only govern citizens is important to remember. There was violence at times from the blacks trying to get their rights, but most of it was peaceful. Also remember the times make a big difference. Media portrying every negative thing makes it seam more often. For example, every time a soldier dies over in Iraq we get a full report. In world war II, you didn't see that. If you think there are not peaceful attempts to try to gain some equality for immigrants, Id suggest doing some research. Best source, find an immigrant active in the pursuit and tell them you are interested in findout out more, and i'm sure they would welcome your support. Remember not to jump to conclusions based on sterotypes, or all the blacks of old fough for is lost. Thats what many died or suffered for, is equality.

You're leaving out the fact that blacks did not break the law by coming here to begin with. They were kidnapped from their homeland and brought here against their will. Yes it is maddening that black people had to fight for so long to gain equality. It is entirely two different scenarios. Brought here against their will.....breaking the law to get here. Having a crime committed against you.......committing a crime. The part I don't get and it is infuriating, now they will probably be rewarded for breaking the law?!? What kind of crap is that?

Don't you think your attitude towards the "illegals" is somewhat similar to the attitude of the white folk that opposed the vote and equality for blacks all those years? Your country needs illegals to remain competitive. That's why the conservatives are moving in this direction.
And the struggle you mention was not always peaceful.

I don't think we should give the illegals so many rights. In mexico for example there illegals do not get the same rights americans give them. In my homeland of South KOrea anybody that hires illegals get 6 months in jail for the first offense. If they offend three times they can loose their business rights.
I don't know why we give illegals so many rights when in there countries they do not do the same.
