First, check to see if your hardware is supported. If it looks like it will work, download the .iso, then burn the iso to CD using an option similar to "Burn image to disc". Once you have the CD burned, you should be able to boot from the CD. Make sure to backup any data before attempting to install a new OS.

For a CD installation:
Solaris 9 SPARC Platform Edition Installation CD.
Solaris 9 Software 1 of 2 SPARC Platform Edition CD.
Solaris 9 Software 2 of 2 SPARC Platform Edition CD – The installation program prompts you for this CD if necessary.
Solaris 9 SPARC Platform Edition Languages CD – The installation program prompts you for this CD if necessary to support languages for specific geographic regions.
b. Pick Installation Method
Decide if you want to install the software by using the DVD-ROM or CD-ROM drive.
If you're using a DVD-ROM or CD-ROM drive, insert the Solaris 9 SPARC Platform Edition DVD or Solaris 9 SPARC Platform Edition Installation CD.
c. Boot the system.
If the system is new, out-of-the-box, turn on the system. If you want to install or upgrade an existing system, shut down the system.
To boot from the local DVD or CD, type:

The nowin parameter specifies to run the Solaris Web Start program in CLI mode.
