surely back then, a few generations after Adam, there was no need to define your religion, as there had not been time for the devil to set up other religions. and why does the Pharaoh welcome Joseph claiming that he can see that he is a man of god, when an Egyptians idea of god would have been different to Josephs

Abraham or Ibrahim prophet had a monotheism religion. He believed in Allah as the only one God.He was not a Jewish and Christian or Islam religion follower. His father was a pagan religion follower or a deification follower. He prayed to statues which had been made by himself. So Abraham at a night went to a place where statues were stored and he damaged all statues except the biggest one.In the following morning his father was angry and accused him that he had destroyed the statues. He told his father that the biggest statue had destroyed the others.Abraham religion is the basic believe in one God for Islam.Abraham is called a prophet for all prophets

Abraham, although not born Jewish became the first jew when he started to follow G-d. The Torah, which predates the new tesatment and the koran by many thousand years is very explicit about his life and how he is one of the forefathers of Judiasm

Abraham had a RELATIONSHIP with God. He didn't have a Religion. The two are different.

That's why Christianity is not a religion; Christians have a personal relationship with God. All religions have been inspired by Satan.

Abraham say pray to god only, he is a muslim, every prophets are muslimas revealed before on Prophets Moses (Mosa), Jesus (Isa) and other Prophets (Peace be up on them all). But now only 100% purely existing religion in this world is Islam! And only purely 100% existing revelation is Holy Qur'an All other revelations are corrupted! The only true God Allah-almighty/our creator/the creator of universe says in Qur'an (V51: 56) that "And I (Allah) created not the Jinn and Mankind except that they should worship Me (Allah alone)". As well as in (Qur'an 3:64) Allah says that "O people of the Scripture! Come to a Word that is Just between us (Muslim) and you, that we worship none but Allah (Alone), and that we associate no partners with Him (Allah), and that none of us shall take others as Lords (Gods) besides Allah. Then, if they turn away, say: Bear witness that we are Muslims (truly submitted/obeying to only-God)".

Abraham was born near Ur which practiced many forms of paganism.

Abraham left Ur when God asked him to leave.

Abraham was the father of Israel... who received the promises of God.

Gen 12:1-3 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Abraham believed God and had faith in God just as a follower of Christ does.

Gal 3:7-9 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, "In you all the nations shall be blessed." So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.

Therefore, what religion was Abraham? He was a child of God who submitted to God's authority and believed in God and lived by faith... that was his religion.
