It has not been on the news or in the papers that I know off, but thousands of people in Britain have got letters from the Home Office offering them £3.000 to go back to their own country. I have seen the letters as through my job i was asked to read and translate some of them. I would be intrested to know peoples thoughts on this offer.

Thats crazy, I abide by the laws and I never got paid for it. It sounds like they are saying "You are wrong now for being here illegally but do whats right and leave and we will reward you for it." I didn't know the UK had that many problems with illegals as well. Both countries should be more proactive about fixing this problem.

It seems like a small cost to save crime, property values and tax payer monies. 3,000 is a fortune in most foreign countries and it seems as though it would be an intriguing offer for immigrants...unfortunately for the US they would take the 3,000 and leave...jump the border and come back again. lol So, if this is "for real" I doubt it would work in my country.

Maybe we should try living in their war-torn countries for a while, not knowing if we will be dead or alive from one week to the next, or if our mothers or sisters will be raped by the military or our fathers or brothers will be shot, or if we are going to get some desease through bad sanitation.

Then and only then can we understand why being able to start afresh in a new land that should welcome them as friends is as attractive to them as it is.

Three grand to go back, that's pathetic!

We should be that welcoming place, after all most of those contries are a mess because of our "Empire"

Well I've heard it all now!!!! Lets face it,NOTHING suprises me with this Government!!! Just WHAT is going on????????? Could it be,that at last, they have realised the country cannot sustain the growth in population at its present rate,? Maybe I'm just dreaming,or a more likely theory, just wishful thinking!!!!!! I do know something, the whole thing stinks!!!!!

Three thousand quid, just enough for all my family's one-way ticket to Australia. Yes please, I'd like that from the Home Office.

Fat chance. I'm a Brit.

Good value as far as I'm concerned, if we need to pay to unload a few then so be it. if we have to pay to unload half a million then even better. The savings in the long term will be of greater benefit to us all.

Of course we need to then get the border controls in place to stop them simply coming back for another £3000.

They always throw money at immigrants in some way or another! Its disgusting . They shouldn't be offered incentives to go home , they should be kicked out and that money spent on education , healthcare or one of the many other things it could be spent on.
