If a woman was involved in an abusive male/female relationship could this cause her to become a lesbian?

Or would it be more likely that she was a lesbian prior to the negative experience?

Or is it just her imagination that she is a lesbian...like a defense mechanism?

I've heard of it happening.

However: I don't believe the man is what caused it. Women who seek abusive men are usually girls who are not very intelligent nor skilled at life. These girls are searching for men to provide something for them because they are lacking in people skills, intelligence, or looks. Usually these girls try to make up for it by getting a guy who shows off, is arrogant. Trashy, uneducated guys are all too happy to provide this personality for them.

Alot of women become lesbian, and then spend a lot of time ADVERTISING it and TRASHING men. Why don't they just settle down with another girl and be happy lesbians? Simple, they are afraid of men having some power over them and lash out. They use their femaleness to attempt to control men and try to degrade us guys as much as possible. The sad thing is that alot of our less-intelligent male friends will suck up to these fake-lesbians and give them respect. This makes the girl think she's incredible, while making the men feel like crap. It's actually the male being degraded, despite whatever a feminist will tell you.

You will notice that alot of women who make this change advertise their lesbianity. They don't actually care about being lesbian, just letting others know this. They rant and rave about kissing girls and how sensual it is, even though people who have tried both sexes say there is no generic difference.

Yes, it is their imagination. Yes, it is a defense mechanism. You have tapped into these girls primal world where ABUSE and CONTROL are the main indicators of a persons strength. Many, many, women follow these guidelines. When they have gone through an abusive relationship, where they attempted to control the male (seeing that he is the controlling sort, making him a prize) and fail, they end up sort of going crazy. Happens all the time.

Heck no. There are a million alternatives to dealing with abuse. She could psychologically decide not to be sexual with men but if she wants a woman, she wants a woman because she has CHOSEN that, it is not that her circumstances pushed her to go to that extreme. As far as a defense mechanism, I'd just call it "the reason that spurred her on." Whatever excuses or explanations people give, it all comes down to CHOICES. Period. She's choosing to be a lesbian and could also choose to try it again with men.

That is a tough question that only the woman can really answer herself. Could it be a defense mechanism? Absolutely.. but maybe its not.. maybe the relationships she has had throughout her life with men have given her a predisposition or resentment towards men that she does not share with woman... and henceforth she sees a relationship with a woman more enticing...

Chanses are less because if she is normal a girl who has some sort of bad experience from one man she will try to find a better partner and will not become lesb...

If there is some hormonal defect only then she will be so...

I think she would at least become more of a feminist and would hopefully take some self-defense classes to toughen up. But, I don't think she would necessarily change her sexual orientation.

Yes, it's a fairly common reason why women turn to other women for affection.
