you can always mix a bit of both into one session, starting with a damn good thrashing then a bit of slow love making when you're both too worn out to continue the athletics.

It depends on the mood and occassion.
If you love someone it is impossible to f*** them. You can 'have a quickie' but it's still an expression of your feelings. Having sex is different every time, it feels different, the mood is different and you get something different from it.
Being wild and rough is an expression of passion and lust which is a wonderful part of a relationship.
Making slow, gentle love is an expression of softer, nuturing feelings that you have toward each other which is also wonderful.
All in all diversity is what makes sex such a great thing.
