I'm just so curious as to what people think about this. I think that we ourselves are constantly, even to the day that we die, changing our opinions or our lifestyles. So is there some sort of core the human self? (Such as a soul...?) Or is our constantly changing self mean that others are constantly changing also. Can we really know someone, or are we just informed and acquainted with their molding core? Can we ever truly know ourselves....??

WHAT A GREAT QUESTION! I hope people really think about this for their own lives and relationships! I think that we can, to the degree that we are willing to spend the time and energy it takes TO know someone (or ourselves!). The basics of our personality, like the foundation of our value system, remain somewhat constant but like you stated, we are constantly changing. So maybe it would be better to say we are always in the process of knowing ourselves (or our friends or partners). We can know, but WHAT we know will forever be growing along with us!

I suppose that there is a core is each human's life... a soul!!! If we never changed our opinions we would be boring and predictable!!! Would you like to be boring and predictable??? I didn't think so! Yes, on some level we always know ourselves, even if we are ever changing! And as to whether or not we can ever know anyone else... YES WE CAN!!! Our life partners are ever changing with us so we can follow there change. But then again, if we completely know a person, all the time, how much fun will it be for you to be in the same room as that person? Not much fun, hey? Don't try to make life boring and predictable. Just be yourself and remember that change is GOOD!!

No to your question. Yes to your comments about the constantly changing self. You are a deep thinker with maturing wisdom.

The soul is the ever-perfect "me". It's the personality that is continuously changing.

The only way to know oneself or another truly is by deep intuition, when the mind is calm and still and receptive to Truth. And as you say even that knowing is "present moment". The Present is the place to be.

Though we all grow and evolve our temperament tends to remain unchanged. It is neurochemical, it is how our brains are wired. We can train ourselves to control our behaviors triggered by our temperament. In other words, like exercising muscles, we can exercise our thought processes to compensate for a temperament that causes trouble. For example, get angry instead of blowing up OR say no every once in a while instead of yes all the time OR overcome our shyness OR overcome a sensitivity to sound.

Yet there is something about the soul that is a bit changeless. The way one cares, or loves, or leads, or empathizes, etc. Though a soul may evolve and grow, it's "gifts" are always there.

You confusing me but I think you want to know if we are changing all the time, we become an another person and so do the others.
You have your body, mind and soul.
Your body always changing.
Your mind always changing.
But your soul is remain unchange.
Can we ever truly know ourselves?... Yes.. we can ...as long as you have healthy body and mind.

I think we all have a general core of things we are passionate for, things and people we love, deep personal things and these things are slow to change. So we can know that. And we all have general personalities too. However, we're forever changing to our environments, and you can't perfectly describe someone, you can't put down in words who someone is. So, yes we can know ourselves.

You are conscious of what people may think about you. Yes you can really know yourself if you stop comparing yourself with others. Just keep telling yourself that you are unique and when you consider others feelings by being in their position you will always feel you are more blessed and contended with what you have.
In short don't change yourself for others. Be what you are.

It is difficult for us to know others since we do not know ourselves.
We have habbits that harm ourselves. And Believe in the garbage injected by the society from the childhood. We have lost the feeling of love.We waste thing that others do not have. We are fortunate we have it but do not look at people who do not have it. Our problem is wastage in every thing. We waste more then we use . That is the greed of devil or the serpent. Fast be happy and share happiness. For that we have to have people who believe in 10 Commandments and have them as our neihbour . They are considered to be a neihbour who maintains gods laws. We can know them because they are like us and beautiful. Believes in beauty of
God , love and nature . You cannot know the people who are under the control and influence of satan. BUT u can trust people through their eyes. Good people have beautiful and soothing eyes. And it reflects through their eyes not by their skin colour or social status and bank balance.Because money can be aquired by manipulations. Like liars have more money than a simple person who prefers not to lie and deceive people. How will you know that person who is unwise and not Godfearing. No quality of God he posses. Quality of God is Good. Good people are mostly not rich like Jesus, but he was a King In Gods Kingdom.

You can not sum up one's life in one sentence. All the changes that happen to a person and how he responds to it defines him in a wide and diverse way. To be be stopped, packaged and branded as how you are at one time just makes life meaningless because it leaves experiences and lessons and moments and outlooks devoid of value.

When you live long enough, you'll notice a pattern to your changing. You'll tend towards beauty or truth or passifism or something else. That tendency - is your core.

You'll never know yourself fully but you can know a lot.
