I have not seen the advert you mention but am truly sad thatdue to certain idiots and how they have trained their pits I can no longer take my sweetheart of a pit to some places..

You could not wish to find a softer, dopey dog........that is unless you try to break in or if you happen to be another dog and then she is defintly all pit.

I live in the USA but did you know that I can not even take her home to england to visit due to the dangerous dog act.....even if she has not harmed a soul she can STILL be taken away if some nub nutz calls the police because she LOOKS scarey.............

And as we dressed her in her bumble bee costume ready for halloween boy did she look all mean and scarey lol lol

How do you mean other people are p********** off about it?

ANY dog is what you make it IMO

It is a sad fact of life that many, lowlife criminal types do use Rotties, Staffies and other Bull breeds to enhance their 'image'.

It isn't right that all those breeds of dog get a bad reputation because of the way they are used and abused.

I have owned breeds with 'bad' reputations but always endeavoured to make sure that my dogs were properly socialised and trained so that they could be positive ambassadors for their breed.

Unfortunately the police advert is portraying a fairly realistic scenario - I witnessed something similar a few nights ago where a group of no-hopers were threatening to set their dogs on another similar group - no prizes for guessing what breed of dogs.

My dog was mawled and badly injured by a pit bull in an unprovoked attack (my dog was on his lead on the other side of a field, pit bull just came running over and all hell broke loose) so Im afraid Im dead against these dogs, but thats just from personal experience. Ive also noticed that the chavs / thugs / generally not nice people in our area have these dogs, prob for show and to scare people. But I do appreciate theyre only vicious when bred for that, just had bad experiences

no, i think it stinks. as a mastiff owner it really concerns me that people instantly think of bull and molosser breeds as dangerous dogs. A dog only becomes dangerous through bad ownership, and that counts for ALL breeds.
Why not depict gsd's or terriers being aggressive? there are just as many aggressive dogs in every breed not just bulls and molossers.
People who take on potentially aggressive breeds without any experience are (maybe unintentionally, but nevertheless) producing 'dangerous dogs'.
Lets have an irresponsible owners act instead of a dangerous dogs act, that is where the problem lies.

I think it gives people the wrong idea and/or plants wrong ideas in thier heads....bull breeds especially need not be trained to be mean, I mean look whats happened to the poor pitt bulls in some states here in the USA, breed banning due caused by peoples ignorance & outright stupidity....
