i was entered in usa (newyork)1-1-1989.how can i grt record for proof?

i visit usa in jan 1989 ,but now i dont have any record with me .how can i get it ,

Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS) can give you the data.

If you entered legally in your own name, there must be a arrival stamping in your passport at the port of entry at USA. You can take a copy of that for your purpose. Or you can contact INS who have the records of all aliens entering and leaving USA.

what's happen to yr passport, if u enter legally ask immigration ,if not good luck
