Also check, did you install driver for your graphic card, because win XP has his own base of drivers, but some games need original driver for graphic card.

This was the problem when I wanted to play COD 2.

well if the games were installed befor the formating... then you should install them again...

else try installing or updating your drivers.... eventhought windows installs the necessary drives... it's best to install from the product cd...

Does you machine meet the game requirements, if it does then try configuring your settings, and make sure you installed DirectX9. should work!
