Photosynthesis is the process of converting light energy to chemical energy and storing it in the bonds of sugar. This process occurs in plants and some algae (Kingdom Protista).
Plants need only light energy, CO2, and H2O to make sugar. The process of photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplasts, specifically using chlorophyll, the green pigment involved in photosynthesis.
6H2O + 6CO2 ----------> C6H12O6+ 6O2
Most of us don't speak chemicalese, so the above chemical equation translates as:
six molecules of water plus six molecules of carbon dioxide produce one molecule of sugar plus six molecules of oxygen

Photosynthesis is the process which plants undergo to make foods for themselves. Plants are considered primary consumers; meaning they are independently providing themselves with food to survive. Unlike all other lifeforms, plants produce foods of their own from the water their roots absorb, sunlight they get, carbon dioxide they inhale, and other important factors. The major part of a plant that does the primary function during photosynthesis is the leaf. In them are the stomata which serve as the breathing and storage organ.

Photosynthesis is the process in which plants produce food using light energy and carbon dioxide. This produces starch for the plants energy and also photosynthesising causes oxygen to be produced.

Photosynthesis (photo=light, synthesis=putting together), generally, is the synthesis of sugar from light, carbon dioxide and water, with oxygen as a by-product. It is arguably the most important biochemical pathway known; nearly all life depends on it. It is an extremely complex process, comprised of many coordinated biochemical reactions. It occurs in higher plants, algae, some bacteria, and some protists, organisms collectively referred to as photoautotrophs. For details please visit: -

Energy from the sun is taken in by plant life as food and then they produce oxygen from it. They feed on the carbon I believe. That's it really. We are fed our breath of life by the sun and the plants basically through this process.
