Hmm ,

That's a hard one there are so many medications for IBS and everyone seems to respond differently to each one .

Over the counters items like Mintec and Charcoal Tablets or even DeGas are sometimes all you need if the IBS is not too severe .

I personally take 2 Mg of Clonazepam ( Rivotril or the Generic Paxam ) it is not specific for IBS but works well as it is a muscle relaxant .

Just be aware that many IBS prescription medications initially appear to work then after a few days have little effect .

You may need to work with a good doctor who is sympathetic and run through the different types to see what is best for you .

If you haven't tried Mintec try that first as it's an over the counter .

I'm also assuming you have had the IBS correctly diagnosed ??

I have gotten great results recommending Enzymatic Therapy's Peppermint Plus. For a description of this and also an excellent discussion of IBS and the GI tract in general, see Elizabeth Lipski's book Digestive Wellness. It is a motherlode of information.
