A man! When I was suddenly single I took an activity holiday, travelling alone and staying in a hotel with a group. The plane journey was so much more relaxing and airline staff seem to treat single travellers better. Now I have a partner I still prefer to meet him at the destination!!

A travel iron.
I don't iron at home, so I have no idea what I was thinking. Like I was suddenly going to need to flatten my pyjamas???

A giant magnet, I thought it might come in handy for something, but I could never find a use for it.
