They already realise it, but it's a billion dollar a year industry. They are not going to stop when people spand that kind of money. If fact they probably secretly promote unhealthy eating and laziness.

I am a yo yo dieter and have lost so much weight over the years, but have also put it all (and more) back on, because I LIKE TO EAT. It is as simple as that. I love the taste of food and the sensation of chewing and swallowing food as well as the satisfaction of a full tummy. For the past 10 years or so, I have given up dieting and eat whenever I want and have not put on any weight (in fact I have lost weight) simply because I eat what I like and do not deprive myself - therefore I am no obsessed with eating and do not binge anymore!
In other words - in order to loose weight and keep it off STOP DIETING

It is not in the interest of the diet companies for you to lose the weight and then not put it back on, afterall they love the repeat business.
nb. It's not just 'fatties' that like the taste of food, it's just about having some self control.

In our society few people are hungry. The reason people overeat is a deep seated emotional need, boredom or bad nutrition. Once that is addressed, we lost weight. Taste hasn't got much to do with it. How often do you overeat while watching tv, reading a book or doing something that takes away your concentration on eating the food. I often eat without even noticing what I'm eating.

No sorry your not completely right here. Just because it was a taste thing for you doesn't mean it is for everyone. Agree that tasty diet food would be a good Idea and theres loads out there if you make it yourself. For some though bulk is paramount tasty only comes second best

Perhaps the real problem is that the "fatties" find eating more fulfilling than other things in their life. When life has meaning, you'll stop eating for the sake of eating, and start eating just when you need to.

that's a different one! most people who put on alot of weight cos of eating, eat because they are bored or depressed and its mostly people who spend more time at home with nothing much to do, because when your mind is busy you hardly think of eating, and its mostly the culture of watching tele and eating or drinking something. I believe everyone has a potential of losing weight but its will power and motivation and those two are hard to come by!

Me to! up & down like a YO-YO but for some it does have a reflection on appetitie as I know lots of people who are larger & just want to feel full up.
Unfortunatly for us larger people the diet industry wants your money so they dont want to help us that much, or they'd never make any money.

I expect an announcement in the House of Commons on this matter soon!
