I haven't driven stick in about 5 years. Can someone give me a quick primer at what speeds should I shift gears in a 6 speed manual.
Thanks

i dont have a 6 speed manual in my jeep but when i drive i look at the tacometer and shift at like 3-4 thousand rpms or what ever sounds right with the motor if that makes any sense. i rarely (unless im being dumb and racing someone on the street) get close to the 5-6 thousand rpms. not much is different from one vehicle that has stick to the next even if there are more gears it just means ull be able to cruise at a far lower rpm and get better gas milage so you should do fine if you were a decent stick driver.

I agree with jeepaholic. You want to watch the tachometer not the speedometer for shifting. About 3-4 thousand r.p.m. is a good time to shift regardless of what gear you are in. Any more than that, and you're just wasting gas.

Learn how to do it by RPM on the tach or by engine sound. That's the way the pros do it.

every vehicle varies you have to look at the tachometer
(rpms) and shift before the redline

that's no a fair question.

look at your revolutions no at the speed.
around 5000 or 6000, your pushing it.
