My doctor told me all of my symptoms are classic of low thyroid. But my blood tests all came back normal. I have looked into Wilson's Syndrome and have tested my temp. It is low all the time. I don't know how to find a good doc to help me though? There are no endocrinologists in my town. My family doc dismissed me once the tests were shown as normal. Any advice?

Do you live anywhere within the San Francisco Bay area? I live in Manteca, southeast of San Francisco in the San Joaquin Valley, and drive all the way up to San Rafael, which is north of San Francisco, to see Dr. Richard L. Shames (it's pronounced Shahmus). He has written a book titled "Thyroid power". You can get it on line by typing his name into your search line or going to http://www.amazon.com or http://www.alibris .com. Or, it could possibly be available in book stores. If you are within 2 hours ( personally I would drive longer than that to get there) of San Rafael you could go to his office. My Brother's step son drove about 4 hours to see him. It is very possible he can help you. If you can't go to him in person, at least read the book. He is at the Preventive Medical Center of Marin, Inc. at (415) 472-2343. He may also know of a doctor who works with thyroid the way he does, somewhere closer to you. I have been to him, and I had had the same problem with my regular doctor about the thyroid test (the only one he did) being "normal". I have a lot of problems because of sleep apnea and stress. I am not seeing Dr. Shames at this time because the medication wasn't making enough difference for me but I still take the thyroid support supplements he put me on. I am now seeing Dr. Elson M. Haas and following his False Fat Diet. He has also written several books, including "The False Fat Diet". I have read the book. He did a blood test to determine what foods I am reactive to. I have dropped 36 lbs. in three months by eliminating those foods from my diet. I still have quite a ways to go, as I am still just over 300lbs. I really think this reactive food thing is a very helpful piece of my health puzzle. If you are interested in checking that out you can get the book, and his others, on line by going to: http://www.elementemporium.com/book_eh_false-fat.html.

Good luck.

Find another doctor. This is a treatable condition. Any doctor who dismisses a patients valid concerns is NOT being a professional
