My husband and I have learned Spanish and Russian. My husband also speaks German. He actually says it is easy for English speakers to learn German. I agree, that German is easier. Although Spanish is not that hard either. In addition, you would have more opportunities to speak Spanish in the US.

If you would like to explore other methods of learning I would also suggest these products that have helped us. We use BOTH the Rosetta Stone (a computer program) and the Pimsleur Method (audio cd's). These two are the best things on the market.

Each approaches learning the language a different way. And I have found using both really helps round out my learning.

The Pimsleur method is super fast and the best to start with. You are given 30 minute lessons you listen and speak with. You start with basic and keep adding until you are able to have a full conversion.

Rosetta Stone will help with reading and the grammer. I found this to help complete what I was learning with Pimsleur.

If you have to choose only one.. go with Pimsleur. You will be able to have conversations very quickly.

There are many online sites that teach German for free...

Spanish has been the easiest for me as of yet.

Also, I think English is the hardest language to grasp.

Although I've spoken it practically since I was born, I still find it difficult, especially from the views of someone just learning it instead of growing up around it.

Most European lnguages derive from Greek and Latin.

So if you learn one of those, most languages should be a lot easier.

I have always heard that English is an extremely hard language to learn.

As for easiest language, universally I would have to say ones native language, everything after that is hard.
