* Nimrod according to the book of Genesis in the Bible was the Mighty Man and Great Hunter for God. ( I picture that to be akin to the Mythical Heroes and Great Warriors of various cultures )

* He was a Great Ruler who had dominion over many great cities including some from Babylon and Assyria. He is also believed to have built Nineveh as well.

- One source I read, says Nimrod is also the father of astrology, he is said to have married his mother who was an amazingly beautiful woman called Semiramis who was so beautiful, that when she stepped out to her balcony to take a look at the war outside the siege walls, the soldiers on both sides all stopped fighting just to admire her beauty. ( OMG!)

- It is believed the image of him and Semiramis, is the basic source image used by the Babylonians and Asyyrians to depict the Babylonian Goddess Ashtarte with Child. On a lesser scale, Isis and Horus as well.
* So is he Friend or Foe to Devotees of the Judeo-Christian faith?

Nimrod was not nephilim.

Nimrod, a descendant of Noah through Ham, is called a great hunter in the Bible.

Nimrod is also the founder of cities, including Babylon and Ninevah. Nimrod is also credited in Genesis with ruling Babel (Babylon), Erech (Uruk), Accad (Agade) and Calneh. The Encyclopedia Britannica says that Biblical Scholars believe Nimrod refers not to an individual, but to an ancient people.

Genesis 10:8-9
8And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.
9He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.

The Book of Jasher 7:23
23 And Cush the son of Ham, the son of Noah, took a wife in those days in his old age, and she bare a son, and they called his name Nimrod, saying, At that time the sons of men again began to rebel and transgress against God, and the child grew up, and his father loved him exceedingly, for he was the son of his old age.

The Book of Jasher 11:1
1 And Nimrod son of Cush was still in the land of Shinar, and he reigned over it and dwelt there, and he built cities in the land of Shinar.

Antiquities of the Jews 1
Chapter 4:2
2. Now it was Nimrod who excited them to such an affront and contempt of God. He was the grandson of Ham, the son of Noah, a bold man, and of great strength of hand. He persuaded them not to ascribe it to God, as if it was through his means they were happy, but to believe that it was their own courage which procured that happiness. He also gradually changed the government into tyranny, seeing no other way of turning men from the fear of God, but to bring them into a constant dependence on his power. He also said he would be revenged on God, if he should have a mind to drown the world again; for that he would build a tower too high for the waters to be able to reach! and that he would avenge himself on God for destroying their forefathers !

The name Nimrod means "rebellious one" in hebrew.
In Genesis 6 it talks about Nephalim(Giants and mighty men, heroes of reknown). They were before the flood an also after that they were a cross between fallen angels and women. Nimrod was rebellious and was after the flood he went and built the tower of Babel and re-established the pre-flood worship of fallen angels and deification of ancestors. Obviously, Nimrod was not a good guy here....

Nimrod was a mighty hunter in opposition to God. Therefore, a foe.
