Chrisitanity itself does not breed intolerance. Ignorance of other perceptions, other ideas, other faiths and different spiritualities breeds intolerance. Also power and greed breed it as well- often the fight for power results in propaganda which is often run through major religions to help perpetuate it faster.

Yes and No. As Christians, we are taught to love others as Jesus does. But, we are often seen as intolerant because much of our faith is black and white. Most Christians believe that the ONLY way to salvation is through a relationship and acceptance of Jesus as savior. As Christians, we are not saved by how "good" we are, but by our faith in Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross. That sacrifice should inspire us to goodness. In the same way, we look at non-christians and believe that they are damned without Jesus. That sounds intolerant to people on the other side of the fence, but tolerance is not our god. Our God says that there is one way and I wish that all would choose that way. I hurt as I believe Jesus also hurts for those who do not choose to receive His sacrifice, forgiveness and salvation.

I'm no lover of religion, but intolerance is more of a negative aspect of humanity than religion. Religion might be used as an instrument of intolerance, but the intolerance itself is part of being human.

So, no.

It isn't a matter of breeding intolerance, it is a matter of following God's commands and the commands of Jesus Christ to the best that we can. Jesus didn't command tolerance, He commanded repentance, or turning away from sin. He did not teach acceptance of sin. If you have closed yourself off from God, then it may be difficult to accept and/or understand.

That is totally unfair.

Intolerance can be found in most individuals and all groups of individuals.

Your 'question' shows a level of intolerance, so maybe you should deal with yourself before others.

All religion does - it's not exclusive to any particular faith.

Christianity does seem to have the monopoly in North America and Europe, though.
