Try not to take it personally! Generally people with bad attitudes are very unhappy. Think of it as planting a seed of cheerfulness in their weed-ridden garden. If you treat them with respect anyway, inspite of their ugliness toward you, you present them will a picture of a higher way, a much happier way! At least, YOU will feel better!

It's not only in the financial aid office, it's at the book store too. They seem to pick the people with the worst attitudes to work there.

Because not enough students complain to the Provost and/or the President of the college or university. Get 100 or more kids to protest and you'll see a quick and immediate end to the b/s; forget speaking with the Director of Financial Aid; that person is going to defend his employees and excuse it as "overworked, blah, blah, blah... which is b/s and not part of the job function.

They do it because the students allow it. They work FOR you, and they can be replaced easily enough. Your tuition AND your tax monies pay for their salaries. It is nothing more and nothing less than poor supervision and poor management and very poor public relations for the school. BE pr-active, be affirmative but be polite with the Provost or President of the college/university and get that person(s) on YOUR side.

They got to deal with demanding kids with bad attitudes and don't switch their own attitudes when a nice person like you enters.

There are many people like that in all jobs. It is not limited to schools. But if I were your English teacher, I would kick your butt.

I dunno. The financial aid office at my school is stocked with nice, young, attractive ladies (some of them are students). Nothin to complain about there. Mebbe you should transfer.
