We were asked to place eggs, buns and some of the deceased's fav food on table on the 7th day. We were told that he will be back to eat those food. The colour change in the egg will tell. however the eggs which we placed had nothing at all...puzzled..n we were told he is brought away with Buddha. anyone has experience in this area? but on that nite, i heard the sound of the chair moving. it was like moving out to sit on and even water flowing sound. i believe the soul came back, but how come he never touch the food? n it really makes me wonder if he did return back..

Look at what is said about the dead at Ecclesiastes.
5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.

They cannot eat or have anything to do anymore with our world. They simply are 'asleep' in death awaiting the resurrection.
Revelation 20;12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened; it is the scroll of life. And the dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds. 13 And the sea gave up those dead in it, and death and Ha′des gave up those dead in them, and they were judged individually according to their deeds.

I do have the same question as you previously but I did heard noise like people lifting up the rice cooker cover, and touching the chopstick. Whether if they take the food, it depends on your senses coz people say if you eat the food that is offered to the deceased, you will found it tasteless. I don't know how truth is it coz I didn't have the courage to try it.
