I’ve heard every excuse…God made you, God can send you to Hell, etc…I mean what does it matter? So what I’m going to Hell, at least I was a good person with an honest heart, and I never worshiped something because I was afraid not to. If you think that God is above goodwill towards man, above our deepest emotions…then I find you despicable. You short-change yourself. You wish to become more than your human flesh, but it is all we have and believe me – it is more than enough.

I know it seems I'm pushing my beliefs on you, but I'm only trying to make you feel your own potential. A man can only feel so much before he worships an idol. I want people to feel their powers, their ability to love and mourn. I'm not some crazy atheist-evangelist. I only want people to know what they're capable of in THIS life.

Dear Sir, where do you think the "goodwill" you reference comes from? Do you find it occuring naturally in every person you meet? You say you are a "good person" with an "honest heart". Against what standard do you measure yourself to determine whether or not you are "good"? Is it the same standard that you measure your honesty with? How do you see yourself "good and honest" when you can find me "despicable" because I worship a God that is "above our deepest emotions" even though we've never met and you know nothing else about me. I'm not sure, but it certainly doesn't sound like you hold any goodwill towards me!And how interesting it is that mankind's "deepest emotions" appear to be the most precious quality to you. And yet, from these "deepest emotions" comes every pedophile, murderer, rapist, & thief that walks the planet!
And even in your short paragraph, I feel a conflict in you on what it is you really believe. Are we only our human flesh OR are we something more? Is there a capacity for goodwill in our flesh-driven bodies? That seem quite illogical. Which brings us back to the origin of "goodwill" and begs the question, from whence does this "goodness" come? I think it would be frightening to think that this flesh "is all we have".
Everyday of my life, I TRY to be a "good person" and I TRY to keep an "honest heart" but I mess up sometimes. More times than I'd like to admit I'm sure! And everyday, I love and worship my God, not because I'm "afraid not to", but because He loves and accepts me in spite of myself! When you KNOW Who He is, and all that He has done for you, you can't help but worship Him!
PS Don't worry, He will never give up on you - no matter what! This I know from experience! :)
If you'd like to meet Him, I'd be happy to make the introductions. He's really looking forward to it!

Praise God you find me despicable. You said "If I believe in goodwill towards man, what does it matter"Then you called alot of people including me despicable, cowards, mindless, prideful , are you getting a better picture of yourself or is this what you call good will to all of us? Sounds to me like your failing in the "good will" department. And we all do that's why we need a Savior like Jesus. Why not come down to a level where you can see better and get to know Jesus. And by the way I forgive you for saying all that nasty stuff . I love you and will put you on my prayer list.

I don't think that it does. I think you should just be as good as you can towards others and it'll all get sorted out once you die. Since there is no PROOF what happens after that, it's all speculation anyway. If nothing happens, then at least you've made others' lives better through your kindness. If there is something there and it has good intentions towards humanity, I think that It would appreciate that you've done more good than ill towards your fellow human and compensate you accordingly, whether that's with some sort of perfect-bliss-eternity or a really great life the next time around.

You say you are content with an ETERNITY of weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Being a "good person" is not enough to get you into God's Kingdom. You have sinned - as has every person that is on the face of the earth (1 John 1:8). Without Jesus Christ, there is no atonement for that sin (Romans 25-26).
As a "good person", surely you thank those who have provided for you in your life. God is the provider of everything. I see no short-changing when the one deserving the credit received it.
And yes, our human flesh is more than enough to exist in this world - God loves you; He provides for you with gracious patience. This world (and more-so: each of our lives) is the blink of an eye compared to the span of ETERNITY.
May God bless you.

Hi! you must remember that all religion is serviced by man! it's what men think God is like! all alters and religious buildings are designed by man. So the conception is, don't worship false idols! The idea that their is any religious feelings in the heart of a paedophile even though he is clothed in a religious garment is proof enough! There are a lot of 'pure' men who have never stepped inside a church never asked the poor for a 'donation' they are the people who carry God in their hearts. So you are right in what you say. Have a good day.

To the Christians, this kind of logic breaks their little hearts.
To you and I, however, this makes infinitely more sense. Why hedge a bet on an afterlife, when we have an actual life right here in front of us, that we ultimately know we should cherish since it's the only real thing that's guaranteed to us.
I too, find it despicable when people put "God first" before "all else." That to me, is a sign of lunacy.

You're right, it doesn't. An all good god would not care whether you believed in it or not.
"Consider all of the people who live in the remote regions of the world who have never even heard the "gospel" of Jesus Christ. Consider the people who have naturally adhered to the religion of their parents and nation as they had been taught to do since birth. If we are to believe the Christians, all of these people will perish in the eternal fire for not believing in Jesus. It does not matter how just, kind, and generous they have been with their fellow humans during their lifetime: if they do not accept the gospel of Jesus, they are condemned. No just God would ever judge a man by his beliefs rather than his actions."

There are times it is much better that you believe in doing goodwill than believe in God. Because in that case you are not bound to do good because you are told to do so but you do it because that is what makes you happy to do.
I wish more people will be like you doing things because you feel it is good or just the right thing to do not because you want God to like you or that is what he wants. The actions come be more sincere and unpretentious.

I hope you will excuse me for speaking bluntly to you, but I don't know how to say this any other way. This life is very short. You can do the things you think are good things, but when you die...if you reject God, and not believing in Him is rejecting Him, you are going to go to hell for all of eternity.
You are not looking at something important. And that is, your sins in life. You have sinned, we all have sinned, and there is a God that is going to judge the living and the dead. You say I am despicable because I am telling you these things? Please, reconsider what you are saying. This life is not all there is, and your thinking you have "goodwill" towards others will not remove the stain of sin from you. Only faith in Jesus Christ can do that.

A big part of being a Christian is your motive-- Why do you believe in goodwill towards man? That is part of why people become Christians. Christ lived his life that way. But, when God is involved it becomes more that a mere good deed. It involves a growth in your heart, molding you to be more Christ like. He was the ultimate in goodwill towards man. He gave his life for us.
