You can respect the land that you live in, In fact you must.
In Vedic Literatures, Land is called one of the Mothers.
But Land means Mother Earth... and not Mother India..
India means the Border that was made and the Government..
There is nothing great about the Border that divides nations nor is there anything good about the government...
I respect Mother Earth by not using Plastic much. Taking care to reduce Pollution including by giving up smoking. Not wasting food, water and other natural resources. Encouraging Organic products. Not killing animals (animals are very important part of the eco system) etc.. Simply Singing will not help..
Any way you can sing what ever u like but you cannot impose it on others.. India is still a free nation..

Absolutely there is no problem in singing the song. Every Indian should sing a song if it is of praising the land only. At the same time, the song should not disturb one's belief whether religious or otherwise.
For example, one believes that a particular man is his father. It will not be acceptable to him if the song says the father he believes is not the father but some one else is father.
The same way, a particular perople religiously believe that Allah is the only God, the Real God, every human being, every creation on the earth should bow to Allah alone. ( No other so called God(s) and Goddess(es) ever claimed Godship for themselves alone)
When the song in dispute says one should bow your head to some one else. It hurts the feeling those who belive in Allah and prostrate only to Him.
India is a secular country, every Indian has the right to follow any religion of his choice. It is a constitutional right.
Every one should understand this.
No indian citizen of any other religion has never been forced to sing anything that is against his religious belief ....why only muslims?

Its really pathetic that some leaders say that the song has something which hurts the muslim religion. Its clear that it is not so and mr.arjun singh's statement that singing that song is an optional and not compulsory has really hurted the feelings of true indians. if at all those who feel that there is something which is hurting the particular religion,it would have not been selected as a national song for a secular nation. People just wanna make politics out of that. Its a shame what Mr.Arjun Singh has said

In India What is the question of SONG every thing is politisized. & every thing is disputed. THIS IS THE BAD LUCK OF INDIA.
In other countries Govt. orders are strictly followed without any dispute. In india i feel there is only DIVERSITY & not UNITY where everybody can respect each others feelings
So dont ask such question

India is a multicultural and multireligious country. Everyone is entitled to their own religious belief, and to practise their religion as they see fit, as long as they don't step on someone else's right to do the same.
And God is higher than the State, yes, even higher than India herself. So if one has to choose whether to honour one's faith or one's country, faith might well win out.
If all it did was respect India, I see no problem. But some parts are offensive to the Muslim beliefs, and no one has a right to force anyone to disobey God.

If anybody don't want to sing national song then what he is doing in that country?no national song of any country hurts anybody of any religion.as the every religion must be given its respect by everybody, same way every national song of the country where one live shoud give the same respect from his heart and not by compulsion.

Because people have to criticise something or the other. once its the nationality of Sonia, once its the reservation issue, once its a film star and once its the national song.
If people put all this energy into something constructive, you could build a powerplant !
